Updates with Superintendent Monogue

Middleton Cross Plains Area School District (and fellow Optimist) Dr. Dana Monogue spoke with the Middleton Optimists at our breakfast meeting on June 12th about the accomplishments and challenges of our school district for the academic year that just concluded.

She celebrated the boys lacrosse team who, with the inaugural WIAA Division 1 Lacrosse State Tournament championship win, made Middleton the first school in state history to bring home FIVE Division 1 state championships in an academic year! Way to go, Cardinals! (The other four champion teams were: boys soccer, boys volleyball, girls swim & dive, and boys swim & dive)

Kromrey Middle School and Middleton High School are the best middle school and high school in the county. Middleton High School is second in the entire state.

Dr. Monogue also discussed challenges for the school district. Middleton is doing better than most in staffing (huge win on getting enough bus drivers to be able to resume field trips and away games) but the need for bilingual teachers is great. Funding continues to be a challenge.

Optimists, when you get the chance, be sure to thank an educator! Our schools are a major component of our standing as one of the best places to live in the United States.

Thank you, Dr. Monogue!!
